Okay, I have apparently caught now a couple of REALLY strange photos with my cell's camera. One I can post now. The other though, I still have to Upload from my phone.
In the one I am about to place up, there was NOTHING there at the time that either myself or my five-year-old had seen. In fact, as you will tell by the picture, she look right at me, smiling as I snapped the shot. And I saw NOTHING from the corner of my eye.
Some people think it's my mother. Some feel it's a man. Some think it may even be my thumb.
I know for certain, it's not a finger or thumb in the way. Be it mine or someone else's. No other people were in the kitchen when this was taken. And the lens of the camera is on the TOP side of the phone. I have to press OK to snap the pictures. So, my hand in NO WAY is in this shot.
You be the judge. And feel free to also post your pictures here in the comments, and over at ParanorMel over at Facebook.
My experiences, thoughts, and views about ghosts/spirits and hauntings, along with other Paranormal subjects. Also the spot for an occasional Guest Blogger & for Reader's Requests...Reading may just lead to believing.
If you steal from me, I will HAUNT you down!

Ghosts and Hauntings. The rundown and lowdown.
Have you ever wondered about what TYPES or classifications of ghosts there might be in the spiritual realm? Or did you think it's a 'one size fits all' kind of thing?
Well, to be honest, there is no one size deal to this. There are several types AND classifications of ghosts (and hauntings).
I have dealt with a few types, but not all. Both with the hauntings and with the spirits.
Here is a rundown of what types of ghosts you can run in to (from the site The Astral World)...
1. Guardian Angels - Everyone has at least one. They are usually some kind of relation to you that died before you were born. Most of the time you won't know who they are - or rather, were. They watch over us our entire lives and help us out through the rough and dangerous times. They're the little voice telling you not to take your usual route the day a huge pile-up happens on the freeway. That's just an example but I think you get what I mean.
2. Lost Souls - These are spirits who know they're dead but don't know where to go. They can also fear moving on and are afraid to leave what's known to them. They linger around until the day comes when they're ready to leave.
3. Are We Dead Yet? - An easy example of this is Bruce Willis' character in The Sixth Sense. These spirits walk around, going about their lives not knowing that they've passed on. They wonder why people ignore them and why nobody comes to visit anymore. This happens more often with old people who've spent their later years by themselves. Another (fictional) example is the Nicole Kidman movie, The Others. The spirits may think that the new inhabitants are the spirits, when it is the other way around.
4. Unfinished business - There can be a number of reasons why certain beings stick around after death. As portrayed most often in movies - "catch my killer!" Other reasons can be as simple as waiting to see their child graduate. Once the work is finished, the deceased usually moves on in peace.
5. Self-Appointed Guardian Angels - These are loved ones who stick around after death to watch over someone. It can be a deceased husband watching over his elderly wife during the last of her days. It can be a young mother who died before her time watching over her children as they grow up.
6. Wasting Time Between Lives - As in reincarnation. They're waiting for the next life to come around. What better way to waste some time than being a ghost. Coming and going from the planes as you please, enjoying yourself during your sightseeing, visiting old friends to see how they're doing, and the list goes on. They're not here and not there - there just waiting in between.
7. Messengers - These are usually in the form of a loved one. It can be a warning of certain danger or future events. It can also be a spirit coming to ease the pain from a grieving loved one. My mother and my grandmother have both had the latter happen. With messengers, the spirit is not always deceased.
8. Still Living - These people can be dreaming or having an out-of-body experience (obe). In the case of dreams, the person doesn't usually know they're walking around in the form of a ghost. With intentional obe's, the projector knows what's going on but their intentions are generally harmless. I've personally seen my uncle come walking out of his bedroom, look at me and then turn around and walk back into his room even though at the time he was sound asleep in a hospital bed 5 minutes away. He died about a year later.
Now, here is a compiled list of the types/classifications of hauntings (by Paranormal Daily News)
1.) Residual Haunting
Residual hauntings occur when something traumatic happens, such as a murder; negative energy leaves an imprint of the event. Like a recorded tape, it will play the events over and over and over again. The entities involved in this residual haunting are unaware of their surroundings. Residual hauntings are not intelligent hauntings because there is no interaction between you and the entity.
2.) Poltergeist Haunting
Probably the most popular, a poltergeist is a spirit, usually mischievous and occasionally malevolent, which manifests its presence by making noises, moving objects, and assaulting people and animals. The term “poltergeist” comes from the German poltern, “to knock,” and geist, “spirit.”
Included in the most common types of poltergeist activities are the moving or throwing of objects, including large pieces of furniture; loud noises and shrieks; and vile smells. It seems that poltergeists have adapted to the development of technology. They are known to have caused interference in telephones and electronic equipment, and turning lights and appliances on and off. Some poltergeists are said to pinch, bite, hit, and sexually attack the living.
Generally poltergeist activity starts and stops abruptly. The duration of it may extend over several hours to several months; however, some cases have been reported to last over several years. The activity almost always occurs at night when someone is present. Typically this is the “agent,” an individual who seems to serve as a focus or magnet for the activity. In most cases, the agent is a factor, both those that seem paranormal or that may be caused by human PK. The agent is usually female and under the age of twenty going through puberty.
3.) Demon Activity
Demons are entities that never had a mortal human form. Demons are pure energy entities. The main purpose of a demon is to cause chaos. Demons are deceivers and they seek out our destruction. Demon cases are extremely rare - They are described in three different ways.
1. As angelic, a being of beauty that will manipulate the person to commit something that is sinful or out of the ordinary.
2. Horrific, evil looking. Some people claim, they have seen demons that are incredibly hideous to look at.
3. Black mist, black fog, black shadow, black smoke.
4.) Intelligent/Interactive Activity
Back to Einstein’s theory. As matter beings, we are all energy beings on the quantum level. We are made up of atoms and neutrons. As matter/energy beings we have intelligence. While we live, we have an energy aura that surrounds our living bodies. This aura is created by the millions of electrical currents that are created through our bodies. Our brains creates brain waves, a form of pure energy that is transmitting our thoughts, what we see, what we feel, etc.
When our mortal form dies, the aura that constantly surrounds our bodies, leaves our bodies. We lose 6 ounces on the instance of death. What is this 6 ounces? Perhaps it is energy leaving our body. Our soul. This energy, the aura, or you may even call it your soul, is carrying the information of what we used to be. If it can do this, then why couldn’t it also carry our intelligence? If it can carry our former intelligence of our previous life, then it should be able to interact with us intelligently. When we see this aura, we call it a ghost.
If this ghost is able to interact with us, is aware of us, can touch us, can communicate with us, then this is an intelligent/interactive haunting.
5.) Shadow People
This is a type of haunting activity that has no real explanation and are different from ghosts. They are usually shapeless dark masses mostly seen with your peripheral vision. They are known to do things that are different from ghosts. They can move between walls, they have no human features, they wear no clothes. People who encounter them, have a feeling of dread. Clairvoyants that encounter Shadow People, say they do not feel they are human and consider them non-human.
Shadow People have no discernible mouth, noses or facial expressions. Some are seen as child sized dark humanoids. Some people say they seem to be made up of dark smoke or dark steam. At times when they move, they appear to be moving on an invisible track from one place to another, such as a toy train on a small scale railroad track. They have been seen to hop or what appears to be a strange dance. They are known to stare at the floor.
Two common types of Shadow People are the ‘hat man’, that looks like he or she is wearing a 1930s fedora hat and the ‘hooded figure’, which looks like the shadow person has a hood over their head. The hood and hat stand out as clothing, but otherwise, they are not wearing any clothing at all.
6.) Doppelganger Haunting
These are extremely rare and a case example is best used to explain this.
Case example: German ghost hunting investigative team is called upon a doppelganger haunting activity to investigate.
The woman victim was standing on a street corner and with her peripheral vision saw the image of herself on a bus. The image of herself was staring back at her. One week later she again faced her doppelganger in a crowded mall, it stared at her and seemed to disappear amongst the mass of people. It wore the same clothes that she wore. One week later, she was diagnosed with cancer.
Doppelganger haunting activity is considered the evil twin, the harbinger of misfortune, the omen of death.
In most cases, the victim of this haunting activity is in danger with her immediate surroundings, her family or in some cases the victim themselves are in grave danger of illness or death.
Many of these explanations were written by Paul Dale Roberts, HPI Ghostwriter and Ghosthunter from this very cool site (True Ghost Tales). You can also visit Paul Dale Roberts’ page here, where he has a lot of amazing paranormal articles.
Personally from the hautings perspective, I have experienced numbers 1, 2 and 5 respectively the most often.
As far as ghostly apparitions go, I have seen for myself numbers 1, 2 and 8.

Do you have a haunting in YOUR home? See if you have any of the signs.
So, you think you may have a haunted home, huh? And it happens in not only old, decrepit, run-down homes that were abandoned long ago. Nor does it only stay to land that has been occupied over the centuries. A haunting can happen ANYWHERE, in pretty much any kind of setting. A home, a piece of land, a building or even within possessions. Especially antiques from long ago.
So what are the signs of a possibly haunted home (or other place)? Let's find out.
http://paranormalactivityinvestigationteam.com/signs-of-a-haunting.html
• Unexplained noises - footsteps; knocks, banging, rapping; scratching sounds; sounds of something being dropped. Sometimes these noises can be subtle and other times they can be quite loud. Doors, cabinets and cupboards opening and closing - most often, these phenomena are not seen directly. The person experiencing the event either hears the distinct sounds of the doors opening and closing (homeowners get to know quite well the distinctive sounds their houses make) or the person experiencing the event will return to a room to find a door open or closed when they are certain that it was left in the opposite position. Sometimes furniture, like kitchen chairs; are perceived to have been moved. Very rarely will the person experiencing the event actually witness the phenomenon taking place.
• Lights turning off and on - likewise, these events are seldom seen actually occurring, but the lights are switched on or off when the person experiencing the event knows they were not left that way. This can also happen with TVs, radios and other electrically powered items.
• Items disappearing and reappearing - this phenomena, has been dubbed the “DOP effect” (Disappearing Object Phenomenon). Others have called this "the borrowers" phenomenon, and it's the familiar experience of not being able to find a regularly used item - say, your set of car keys - which you believe you placed in a spot you routinely place them. But they're gone and you look high and low for them with no success. Some time later, the keys are found - in exactly the place you normally put them. It's as if the object was borrowed by someone or something for a short time, then returned. Sometimes they are not returned for days or even weeks, but when they are, it's in an obvious place that could not have been missed by even a casual search.
• Unexplained shadows - the sighting of fleeting shapes and shadows, usually seen out of the corner of the eye. Many times, the shadows have vaguely human forms, while other times they are less distinguishable or smaller.
• Strange animal behavior - a dog, cat or other pet behaves strangely. Dogs may bark at something unseen or at a wall, cower without apparent reason or refuse to enter a room they normally do. Cats may seem to be "watching" something cross a room. Animals have sharper senses than humans, and
many researchers think their psychic abilities might be more finely tuned also.
• Feelings of being watched - this is not an uncommon feeling and can be attributed to many things, but it could have a paranormal source if the feeling consistently occurs in a particular part of the house at a particular time.
Those are some of the most common experiences of those who think their houses are haunted. Yet even stranger things can happen...
Stronger Evidence
The following phenomena are rare, but could be stronger evidence of a haunting:
• Mild psychokinetic phenomena - hearing a door open or close is one thing. Actually seeing it happen is quite another. Similarly, actually seeing a light turn on or off by itself is greater proof that something unexplained is happening. Do you see the TV or radio turn on? Or perhaps you're present when a child's powered toy begins to operate on its own. Doors and windows are locked or unlocked. Some people report that when they are in bed they can feel and/or hear something sitting on the bed.
• Feelings of being touched - the feeling of being watched is one thing, and actually feeling like you are being touched is quite another. Some people feel something brush past them, something touching their hair or "a hand" on the shoulder. Some feel a gentle poke, push or nudge.
• Cries and whispers - on occasion, muffled voices, whispering and crying can be heard. Sometimes it's music from some unknown source. People hear their names being said. This phenomenon, as is true for the one above, gains more credibility if more than one person hears or sees the same thing at the same time.
• Cold or hot spots - cold spots are classic haunting symptoms, but any instance of a noticeable variance in temperature without a discernable cause could be evidence.
• Unexplained smells - the distinct fragrance of a perfume or cologne that you do not have in your house. This phenomenon comes and goes without any apparent cause and may accompany other phenomena, such as shadows, voices or psychokinetic phenomena. Foul odors can happen in the same way.
Rarer still are more extreme phenomena, some of which have been called poltergeist phenomena, and can be quite strong evidence of a true haunting:
• Moving or levitating objects (severe psychokinetic phenomena) - dinner plates sliding across the table; pictures flying off walls; doors slamming shut with great force; furniture sliding across the floor.
• Physical assault - scratches, slaps and hard shoves. This kind of personal assault is extremely rare, but obviously highly disturbing.
• Other physical evidence - unexplained writing on paper or walls; handprints and footprints.
• Apparitions - physical manifestation of a spirit or entity. These phenomena are also very rare and can take many forms: human-shaped mists or forming mists of some indistinguishable shape; transparent human forms that disappear quickly; and most rarely, human forms that look as real and solid as any living person, but that disappear into a room or even while being viewed.
I myself have had several of the above things happen to me and around me throughout the years. I have experienced hearing crying, hearing my name being called or shouted at. I have been touched and have had 'someone' sit on the edge of my bed. I have even been kissed on the forehead, and have felt eyes staring at me from the corner of the room. I have also been "tossed" down a flight of stairs (here in this home I currently reside in), have seen apparitions, had smelled odd fragrances (including coffee and cooking on the stove when neither were even on). And that is only the tip of the iceberg for me and what I have seen, heard, and felt.
Please feel free to tell YOUR tale of living in a haunted home or working, playing or just visiting a haunted location. I WANT THIS ONE TO BE INTERACTIVE!

Shadow People and Masses
Shadow people can come in different forms. Some have the shape of a real, live person. Some come in the form of a black mass or gas blob. In some you can see their eyes. In others, you can make a feature or two out.
No matter how these 'things' appear, it can be and often is a very frightening experience for those that are unlucky enough to see one.
One very early morning, when my husband was having to work the 'graveyard' shift (as in third shift, starting at eleven at night, until seven or so in the morning), I thought that he had come home early. Maybe he was feeling ill and came home to get some rest. Or he had too many hours docked up, so they sent him home, as to not go too far over in Overtime.
So, obviously at about four or so in the morning, as the basement foyer's light was shining through my bedroom door, I thought nothing of it when I saw the dark male figure standing in the doorway, blocking some of the light from coming in.
After looking straight at my "husband", it hit me as soon as I lay back down my on the pillow. He never said a word, and he stared at me, though I never saw his eyes, nor his face. It felt for that brief moment that his eyes were piercing through me. Plus, he never came to bed. And knowing him, he would have done all those things after making note to me that he was home and why.
After I turned to look at who I thought was my husband again, he (it, really) was no longer there. This is when I awoke more clearly. Because for him, all of what I described above was greatly out of character for him.
When I got up, I immediately went in to the family area, also in the basement to check on him. No one was there. Then I traveled upstairs. After looking in the bathroom, the living room, the dining area, and the kitchen, still I had not seen a soul. Well, not the living kind, anyways.
I'd even went as far as looking in to the kids' rooms. All three of them were sound asleep. And I knew it couldn't be them, being that who I had seen was almost six-feet-tall, broad shouldered, and skinny, but stalky.
In what seemed like forever, I was finally done with my search, only to find no one but myself up walking around the house. This is when it had finally also dawned on me. I had my very first encounter with a Shadow Person.
Now, note that while my husband doesn't brush me off, or think of me as a loon, knowing what I have experienced, and knowing what 'gifts' I have, he is still pretty much a skeptic. But none the less, he is not as much of a skeptic these days.
A few weeks later, after my experience, he told me one of his own. And mind you, I never made mention of my previous visit from The Other Side.
My husband relayed his experience to me about a week after it happened. I can't say if it was out of fear of what he went through, and was still trying to process it in his mind. Or if he was worried about having to admit that he finally got what he "wished" for, as a skeptic. That is, he has to see it, to believe it when it comes to the Spiritual Realm.
When he had gotten the courage to tell me, his story went like this...
He was laying in bed one night, a few weeks after I had my early-morning visitor, he was just trying to drift off to sleep. He wasn't quite asleep, but not fully awake, either. He was just laying there, with me quietly dreaming as I lay there peacefully beside him.
Finally, he drifted off to a nice slumber. But then he awoke very suddenly with a feeling of dread and the inability to move. In the darkness of our room, with all lights off throughout the basement, and a crack of light coming through one of our bedroom windows, he noticed, floating above him, a deeply black mass, like a gas cloud above him.
My husband said that he tried as hard as he possibly could to move, but he was seemingly, completely paralyzed. He also was not able to speak as this cloud was hovering over his body. And during the whole entire incident, he said that I stayed asleep, never once even moving or turning over.
As soon as this shadow cloud mass disappeared before his eyes, my husband said that he was finally able to move, and to speak. He said that he got up and went upstairs after that. And that is where I did find him the following morning. On the couch, just awaking. He claimed at that point that he just couldn't sleep, being that our room felt stuffy.

Shadow people (also known as shadow figures, shadow beings, shadow men, or shadow folk) are supernatural shadow-like figures of both modern folklore and paranormal popular culture that believers describe as dark humanoid forms or evasive specters that are seen mostly in peripheral vision.
When a specific region of the brain called the left temporoparietal junction is stimulated, it can create the illusion of a shadow person.
Images seen in peripheral areas of vision can be caused by pareidolia, a condition in which the brain incorrectly interprets random patterns of light/shadow or texture as being familiar patterns such as faces and human forms. The same condition can also be observed in macular vision in low light conditions, or when viewing a complex but random image. A common example would be perceiving a shadow, thrown by an item of furniture in a darkened room, as being a person.
Hypnagogia, also known as "waking-sleep", a physiological condition in which a person is part-way between sleeping and waking, can also account for such perceptions.[12] During hypnagogia, a person can be conscious and aware of their environment, but also in a dream-like state where they can perceive images from their subconscious. People experiencing waking-sleep commonly report the sensation of lights or shadows moving around them, as well as other visual hallucinations. A feeling of dread is also a sensation that occurs when experiencing hypnagogia. Hypnagogia is sometimes known as 'the faces in the dark phenomenon' because those who experience this state commonly report seeing faces while experiencing waking-sleep. Similar hypotheses have been put forward linking this condition to a number of other apparent paranormal experiences, including alien abductions, paranormal nocturnal visitations, and religious experiences such as contact with angels or demons.
This picture, though a drawing, is a good example of a Shadow Person, which is what I had seen that early morning, thinking that my husband came home early from work.
Yes, it is a picture interpretation of a Space Nebula. But if you take that BLUE gas mass, and make it black, and remove it's surroundings, then this is what my husband basically had seen hovering over him as he laid in the bed that night, by his description and detail.

Scientific explanations
Several principles based in science can be used to explain reports of shadow people, including optical illusions or hallucinations brought on by physiological/psychological circumstances, drug use, and the interaction of external agents on the human body. When a specific region of the brain called the left temporoparietal junction is stimulated, it can create the illusion of a shadow person.

Animals and the Paranormal...Example by video.
Remember, in a previous post, I had spoken about animals and the paranormal. I also gave first-hand account of my experience in my home where I grew up and was raised, along with a "hearing" dog.
Here is an excellent example of what I was speaking of, where dogs are concerned...
